Glossary

The words the game uses, in plain terms.

A to F

Abandoned

An empire whose owner has been away for 14 days. It produces less and stays open to attack. See Protection and inactivity.

Alliance

A group of players who share a treasury, research and a message board. See Alliances.

Annex

Settling an empty tile next to one of your provinces, which turns it into a new province. See The world.

Beginner protection

The shield on every new empire. Nobody can attack you and you cannot attack. See Protection and inactivity.

Capital

Your first province. It gets bonus production and happiness, and it is the only province with a university, temple, market and bank.

Castle

Your fortress. It protects the province, holds the garrison, and adds production and happiness. Its level also sets how your town looks.

Chest

A free reward from the temple every 12 hours.

Era

The lifetime of a world, 90 days. When it ends, the world closes.

Feast

A celebration at the town centre, paid in gold. It raises the happiness target for 12 hours.

Field army

Troops ready to march. They cost gold every hour.

G to P

Garrison

Troops stationed in the castle to defend it. The garrison costs no upkeep and adds a little happiness.

Happiness

How content a province's people are. High happiness speeds up growth, low happiness makes people leave. It moves toward a target each hour. See How the game works.

Honor

Your reputation. It grows a little every day and with victories. Pillaging and attacking much smaller players lower it.

Idle people

People with no job. They produce nothing and pay no tax.

Instant

The button on any job under 10 minutes. It finishes the job right away at no extra cost.

Military points

Points earned by fighting. They set your military rank.

Mobilize

Bringing newly trained troops into your army before their 3 days wait is over.

Pillage

A raid on a province's villagers. Your troops carry them off and bring back gold.

Points

The size of your empire, based on what you have spent on buildings, research and troops.

Province

One town on the map, with its own buildings, people and stores.

Q to Z

Queue

The list of jobs waiting in construction, research or training.

Siege

An attack on a province's castle that can carry off its stores.

Speed

How fast a world runs. See Worlds and speed.

Tribune

Your alliance's message board.

Upkeep

The gold your field army costs every hour.

Workers

People placed in a lumbermill, iron mine or stone quarry. Only workers produce resources and pay tax.
